This scheme aims to ensure that every eligible family across urban and rural areas of India has access to a pucca (all-weather) house equipped with basic amenities like a hygienic kitchen, water connection, toilet, and electricity. PMAY primarily focuses on providing affordable housing solutions to economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG) through various verticals and interest subsidies on home loans.

This scheme is broadly divided into two main components: PMAY-G (For rural areas) and PMAY-U (For cities and urban areas)
